The best time for growing grass in muddy areas is late fall. First, you need to be a little patient and wait until the mud dries out. Otherwise, you’ll be disappointed as grass hardly grows in wet conditions.
Then, it’s time to amend the soil. Muddy soil has a serious problem when it comes to drainage. And to fix it, you need to add compost after rototilling the soil carefully. The amount of sand and compost should be enough to ensure healthy soil.
Now, you need to wait again for the soil to dry out before sowing grass seeds. If you see the soil isn’t drying out well, you may need to add more compost and sand. Once it dries out, it’s time for raking and leveling the soil.
